Places/ Pell Manor SIDE A REC ● updated after Session 9
Pell Manor
Our home base. Cousin Edward‘s estate on the south hill of Arborolus, reached by a winding drive up behind his shop, Old Tracks Antiquarian (the by-appointment door: “ring twice”).
What We Know
- Ivy-grown living-wood, three stories, beautifully curved — a proper manor. We badly under-imagined it (“genuinely thought we were walking into a recluse’s shack”).
- Named for the Pell family, a wealthy and prominent Arborolus line whose name is “all over the buildings” in the city; Edward kept the original name when he bought the house. (The cathedral’s caretaker, Brother Aldred Pell, shares the name.)
- Run by Edward’s halfling butler, Arthur. Home to Millie, Edward’s glowing pet centipede, who has a garden terrarium of her own.
- A grand library/office, leather couches, books everywhere, and a strong smell of tea, leather, and old paper — not a trace of Grove technology. Harmony swept the room to be sure.
Why It Matters
- Edward offered it to us as our headquarters and safe haven, and we accepted. Each of us has our own room and a key to the gate and the front door. Winnie is parked up on the hill.
- The first genuinely safe place we’ve had since leaving Wendell’s Landing — Edward owns no Grove products and refuses to.
- The catch we’re aware of: Lyndon threatened Edward by name, so the Grove now knows the manor matters to us. “Safe” may be on a clock.
Status
- Active — our base of operations in Arborolus.
